Greetings, McCormick! As you probably know, your student session meets once a month, usually the first Monday of the month. Starting this year, our meetings are open to the school. On October 3rd, we gathered for business at 4:00pm, then opened our session to the wider community at 4:30pm with pizza and a talk by David Weasley of the Night Ministry on how faith communities can include service in their congregational lives.
During the business portion of our gathering, we unanimously approved our Peacemaking group to work with Interfaith Worker Justice to present a panel discussion on wage theft here at McCormick the week before Thanksgiving. We also held a discussion on a topic that probably many of us can relate to - scheduling conflicts. The session will put together a calendar to attempt to help coordinate student group events and meetings. In other news, several of us will take a look at the current session by-laws and update them to bring before session next month, Crop Walk is coming up in October (contact Kristin for more information), and we discussed student concerns regarding the Kimbark sale/lease-back.
Our next meeting will be Monday, November 7 at 4:00pm in Buchanan Lounge! We hope to see you all there! Happy fall!
