Deacon Prayer for Advent

Gracious and Glorious God, we are familiar with the seasons of the year. We survive the winter so that we may be renewed each spring, only to thrive in the warmth of the summer’s sun and await the beauty of fall colors.

And now we bask in the joy and hope of the season of Advent, a season not bound by time or temperature. We give you thanks for this season of anticipation and abundant praise for the salvation that is offered by the life and death of your only begotten Son.

We ask now that the hope and joy of this Advent season will transform into comfort and strength as we also celebrate the ending of one academic season and the imminent beginning of another. Please allow the hope of salvation to comfort us during the challenging seasons of life, and the joy of Christ’s birth to embolden us to learn and share the glory of your Word with the world during this Advent season, and always! Amen.
