A Lenten Prayer: Be with us, God.

Gracious God,

We ask for your sweet breath to fill our lives during this season of Lent.

With all the joys that please us,

And all the sorrows that we face,

We yearn for your presence.

Be with us, God.

As we desire to walk in a path that draws us closer to you,

Let us abstain from concentrating on our differences,

And let us take pleasure in celebrating the oneness of life.

Let us fast from our hatred,

And feast on love.

Let us shy away from hopelessness,

And replace it with unceasing prayer.

Help us to turn away from judgment

And lead us toward compassion for others.

In this season of Lent,

Create in us a clean heart,

And renew a right spirit within us,

So that we can faithfully serve you,

As we share the message of hope,

That we have received from Jesus Christ. 

All these things we pray in the name of your son, Jesus Christ.
