It’s still a work in process but the Board of Deacons have been working hard to find a quiet space where members can stop in to pray, meditate, and experience a few minutes of stillness amidst the busy-ness of the semester.
Where is it? Good question.
The Prayer Room is on the second floor, Room #245 (after the windows, before the bathrooms on the east end of the hallway, on the courtyard side). Right now it still looks a bit like an office, but don’t be fooled! We are working to gather some resources to make it an inviting space where all can come for prayer and reflection. If you have any prayer resources (books, journals, pillows) you’d be willing to donate to the Prayer Room, let us know at deacons@go.mccormick.edu.
When is it open? Now!
More specifically, it will be open during school hours and hopefully through the evening classes. We’re still working out these details with security, but if the door is open, you are welcome to come in. We’ll be posting a sign in the window with hours and more information.

We are working to develop a schedule of a few times a week when deacon(s) will be in the room to pray with and for members of the community. So far, there will definitely be deacons available after chapel each week through the Spring semester. Watch for a sign in the Prayer Room window announcing when deacons will be present in the Prayer Room. You are also more than welcome to gather with a few others to pray together at any time.
So, we welcome you into the Prayer Room. Stop in any time for some prayer, a few minutes of quiet and stillness, or reflection and meditation. If you have any questions or ideas for the Prayer Room, please let us know at deacons@go.mccormick.edu.
