Denomination:  I don't like to choose sides--the PCUSA and the UCC both have claims on my heart

If you could be any character in the Bible, who would you be and why?

Does Lilith count as a Biblical character?  

What's your preferred sword of the spirit?

The Children's Bible in 365 Stories that my parents read to my sister and me every night when we were growing up. I rocked at Sunday School Bible Trivia!

Who's your favorite person in the Trinity? (you can only choose one, and no, saying they are all one and the same doesn't count.)

Jesus, the incarnate Word.  He turned people's assumptions about God upside down and had a great sense of humor.  Even today he subverts the hierarchy and turns our world upside down; he's one of a kind and yet every kind. 

Which community meal is your favorite? Which one would you like to never have again?

The homemade chili supper after the Vagina Monologues last year was definitely my favorite.  There's something really powerful about the way potlucks bring people together, and chili is the perfect meal on a cold February evening.  Conversely, if I never see another mayonnaise-based salad in my lifetime it will be too soon.  

What has been your favorite class at McCormick and why?

Intro to Urban Ministry with Deb Kapp was probably the most practical class I've taken.  Deb makes a point of taking her class out of the ivory tower of academia and dropping her students into the middle of the realities of ministry and mission.  She also designs her class to be totally dependent on the students and their own work; everyone was in charge of how much they got out of the class.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now? 

The most delicious and fragrant vegetarian/vegan fare you've ever tasted, dates, soy milk, Sriracha sauce, and peanut butter chocolate Easter eggs that I forgot about before leaving last May.  Plus all the meat my carnivorous roommates eat.  

If you were a superhero, which superpower would you want to have and why?

Oh man, I've put a lot of thought into this question!  I would have muscle memory powers--being able to replicate an action after observing it only once.  Then I could cook like Julia Child, dance like Beyonce, and kick butt like Bruce Lee.

If you could only have three electrical appliances in your house, what would they be and why?

The electric blanket gifted to me by one of The Best Roommates Ever (it hasn't left my bed in a year), a Kitchenaid food processor for homemade soup and hummus, and an iPod for all my NPR podcast needs.

What is your favorite verse in the Bible and why?

Exodus 4:11-12.  After all of Moses' excuses, whines and arguments God comes back with the ancient version of "Fool, I GOT THIS!"  Sometimes we just need a good kick in the pants to go out and do God's work in the world.
