Hooray! You are another day closer to beginning this journey called seminary. Welcome home. We're excited that you decided to come join the McCormick community. These are just a few things about student life that might help you feel at home here. Just remember, we are here for you and you're family now.
Student Session
Student Session consists of students nominated by their classmates and a representative from each of the student organizations who work together to serve the students of McCormick by enabling communication and providing the space for every student’s voice to be heard. All session events and meetings are open to the public and we encourage and hope you attend! Being a part of Session you can learn things like how to run a meeting, how to engage in authentic cross-cultural ministry dialogue and how to address important issues related to being a student at McCormick and a leader in the church.

The first meeting will be September 10, 2012! Session meetings are held on the first Monday every month from 4:00-6:00pm in the Buchanan Lounge. First year students--be prepared to nominate and vote for your class representatives (3 persons).
Student Organizations
Be Involved!
Here are just a few of the organizations you could be a part of: Acts 10:15, Anti-Racism
at McCormick (ARM), Commuter Student Group, Eco-Justice, Global Community, La Asociacion de
Estudiantes Latino/as de McCormick (AELM), Peacemakers, Korean American Student Association
(KASA), Pan-African Student Organization (PASO), and Women in Ministry. Join in or start a new group! Ministry is also about community organizing and involvement so bring your talents, creativity and energy.
Community Worship
Worship is held weekly on Wednesdays at noon. The services are designed and led by students and serve as an important time of reflection and uniting for the McCormick community. Community worship is a spiritual practice and means for staying centered amidst the busyness of
seminary. There are many ways to be involved in worship including singing in the choir, playing a musical instrument, or serving as a lay reader/communion server. If you are interested in helping to plan or participate in worship, contact Christine Vogel (cvogel@go.mccormick.edu) or Mark Bowman.

Community Meals
Community meals are often served after worship. In addition to having delicious food from local Hyde Park restaurants, these meals offer great opportunities to break bread with students, faculty and staff of McCormick. If you have any dietary restrictions (i.e. vegetarian, gluten-free, etc.), please inform Alicia Rhine at arhine@mccormick.edu.
The Herald
The Herald is McCormick’s online student newspaper and one of the best ways to share and learn about what is happening at McCormick. In it, you’ll find information about upcoming events, important deadlines, student group news, and contact information for student session and the deacons. The editors welcome submissions of poetry, prayers, stories, articles, photos, upcoming events at churches and community organizations. To learn more about The Herald or to submit an article, contact Stephanie Levan and Kristin Riegel at herald@go.mccormick.edu.
On behalf of Session, we’d like to say, Welcome and Enjoy the Journey!
